On Wednesday, February 15th, students from various schools across Davidson County gathered at the Oasis Center to take part in an art event supporting Mayor Megan Barry’s youth employment initiative, Opportunity NOW.
Students were asked to create artwork that promoted the Opportunity NOW initiative. They could be as creative as they would like when incorporating ideas around youth, jobs, community, and Nashville. Materials were provided by Opportunity NOW, NCAC and the Oasis Center. Students from the Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet School had even worked on projects in their art class for a couple of weeks prior to the event. The artwork is currently on display in the Mayor’s office.
An event celebrating the launch of the Opportunity NOW initiative and job portal will take place at Marathon Music Works on March 20, 2017. More information will be available soon. To learn more about Opportunity NOW and sign-up for the mailing list, visit on.nashville.gov.
Opportunity NOW is a component fund of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. Donations will directly support youth.
